The inspiring secret of successful winemaking lies
in the location of the vineyards. Exceptional vineyard locations cannot
be found in lowlands, but on slopes. There, the condition of the terrain
and grounds as well as the climate can be quite different and versatile
and therefore determines the very specific characteristics of single locations
or areas.
However, certain wine regions are truly fascinating
as they boast a special wine-growing environment, developed over thousands
of years, which has produced a dominant local grape variety. In Italy,
a wine-producing country par excellence, we expect such uniqueness even
when we are looking for wines that are simply destined to be drunk every
day.
Therefore, I would like to draw your attention to
some wines that reflect the typical character of a native grape variety
with a clear identity. These are exclusively wines from historic places,
where the location of the vineyard itself is the best guarantee for a
genuine, traditional approach to wine-producing. Let's take for example
the steeply terraced south-facing slopes of the Cembra valley in the Dolomite
region, the rolling hills of the Alpone and Tramigna valley in the foothills
of the Monti Lessini, the sun soaked hilly territory of the Colline Frentane
between the Adriatic Sea and the Maiella mountains in Abruzzo, as well
as the ancient wine district around Leverano, in the heart of the Salento
peninsula.
The producing and ageing of the wines is done at the places where the
grapes are grown by the winegrowers themselves in state-of-the-art wine-cellar
cooperatives.
C. Vintys manages the development and choice of the
wine selection as well as the bottling and promotion, following the principle
that whatever can be saved on packaging, in our case using a simple litre
bottle with a crown cap, will be spent on improving the value of the wine.
Our aim is that even a glass of table wine will bring forth the fragrance
of a fascinating land dedicated to wine.
