The structural characteristics of the thin stratified sedimentary rock of the Monti Lessini can be imagined observing the massive vault of the world's largest natural bridge in Veja. In the mountain villages, the roofs are still covered with natural stone slabs. Extremely valuable marble is quarried and exported all over the world, such as the Biancone and the Rosso di Verona.
Everywhere in the Tramigna valley, the vineyards and olive groves are dotted with cherry trees. For this reason, the valley is also called the "Valle dei Ciliegi", the valley of cherry trees. These cherry trees scattered around the valley, a veritable sea of flowers when they are in blossom, are clear evidence that the winegrowers stand by a method of cultivation that is environmentally-friendly but has been tried and tested for hundreds of years.
Cazzano di Tramigna, a wine village, is located in the upper part of the valley, where also the "Viticoltori Valtramigna" winery is situated.

>> location

The Corvina grape dominates in the red wine growing areas of Verona. The region extends in a wide arc from the foot of Monte Baldo across the hilly foothills of the Monti Lessini to the Tramigna valley. Although the grape has made its mark growing in the light grounds of the moraine hills at Lake Garda, it produces its historic greatness growing in heavier grounds richer in limestone.

Only very little is known about the origin of the grape however. Similar to other varieties of vines considered autochthons, there are also some sub-varieties of the Corvina vines.

Although the climate in the Tramigna valley is tempered by Lake Garda and the Adriatic Sea, the Corvina grape, because of a fresh north wind, cannot be grown far above 350 m above sea level. These winds, however, are advantageous for a healthy vegetative growth, as they contribute to a greater difference between day and night temperatures during ripening and therefore have a crucial influence on the grapes' quality. The grapes are picked by hand and then the wine is fermented and aged in a traditional way at the local winegrowers cooperative.
